BREAD STICKS 16 Servings of 1bread stick each
Frozen enriched bread dough, thawed according to packaging directions 1 loaf (1 pound)
Pasturized egg substitute 1/4 cup
Preparation Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Lightly coat a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.

3. Cut bread dough into 16 equal pieces.

4. With your hands, stretch and form each piece into a 6-inch rope.

5. Place on baking sheets.

6. Brush with egg substitute (See safety note).

7. Sprinkle with any of the variations listed below, if desired.

8. Set bread sticks aside to rise in a warm, draft-free location until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

9. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

10. Remove bread sticks immediately from baking sheet.

 

VARIATIONS:

1. Substitute whole wheat bread dough for  white bread dough.

2. Brush with water or milk instead of egg substitute.

3. Before baking, sprinkle with sesame seed.

3. Before baking, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

3. Before baking, sprinkle with garlic salt.

 

SAFETY NOTE:

Do not use fresh eggs for "bread wash" because of possible salmonella contamination.
